Tottenham already have Antonio Conte's dream wing-back in long-term Ivan Perisic replacement

Antonio Conte may finally have an answer to his conundrum at wing-back that would solve issues regarding his current system and style of play. The Italian has yet to find some proper consistency from his Tottenham side playing his trademark five-at-the-back, sitting just outside the top four.

However, strides were made in the January transfer window as a key player was brought in to address one area of concern. That being at right-wing-back, where Pedro Porro joined from Sporting CP on a loan-to-buy deal, replacing Matt Doherty who left the club after the mutual termination of his contract.

Discussing the impact of the Spaniard in his two weeks of training so far, assistant Christian Stellini told reporters: "He can bring very good skill, he can bring experience. He's a young player but with great experience. Technically he's a fantastic player. His enthusiasm to play in a new league, in a new team, could be a boost for us when we decide to use him."

There will be hopes that Porro can add some quality and balance to the side, though he may have a task to overcome Emerson Royal, who put in an impressive performance against Manchester City. There will be concerns over the long-term future of the left wing-back role, however, given that Ivan Perisic is beyond his peak years while Ryan Sessegnon is yet to secure that role as his own.

Conte may already have his own replacement at the club already though, with that being Destiny Udogie, a summer signing that is impressing at Udinese on loan. The 20-year-old already has plenty of experience and offers quality in attacking and defensive phases of play.

Such is the case, CIES Football Observatory currently have the youngster down as the second-most promising left-back, only behind Nuno Mendes of PSG. While it may be some time before he's involved in a Spurs shirt, it's clear that the potential could mean he's able to fill in the role perfectly as the years go on.
