Tottenham academy ace signs new long-term contract as club confirm season-long loan move

Tottenham have confirmed that TJ Eyoma has signed a new three-year contract to remain at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Making his first-team bow for the club back in January 2019 in the drubbing of Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup, the 20-year-old has committed his future to the club until 2023.

However, Eyoma will not be part of the club's plans for next season as he has instead headed to Lincoln City on loan for the 2020/21 campaign.

With opportunities in the first team extremely limited since his debut for the club, the defender actually moved to the League One side on loan back in January.

Named on the bench twice and missing out on the squad on four occasions, Eyoma didn't make a single appearance for the Imps as the coronavirus pandemic saw the season brought to an early end.

Clearly doing enough in his time in Lincolnshire to impress Michael Appleton, the Hackney-born player will be hoping things pan out rather differently for him come next term.

“I’m delighted to return. I learnt a lot last season despite not playing, and I’m really grateful for the opportunity to come here again," he told Lincoln's official website.

He added: “Michael likes to develop young players, and this is a reason why I wanted to return. I feel like I’ll play games which will develop me further as a player, and hopefully my ability can contribute towards the team. I can’t wait to get going.”

Speaking of the player's return for the entirety of the season, Appleton said: “We are delighted to have TJ back with us. He was very unfortunate not to get some game time before we had to stop due to the pandemic.

"He’s a very strong and aggressive athlete, but also very comfortable on the ball. He’ll be a great addition to the squad.”
