Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool player ratings: Reds full-backs impress in Champions League triumph

Liverpool are champions of Europe for a sixth time after the Reds beat Tottenham 2-0 in the Champions League final at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

Mohamed Salah's second-minute penalty gave them the lead agaisnt Spurs who were bidding for a first-ever European crown.

Salah converted from the spot after Sadio Mane's cross was handled by Moussa Sissoko in a crazy opening 30 seconds to the match.

Both sides struggled to carve out clear-cut opportunities thereafter, before Divock Origi made it 2-0 late on, firing past Hugo Lloris left-footed.

Here are the full player ratings from our man John Cross in the Spanish capital...

Hugo Lloris 7

Got close to Salah’s penalty and also made spectacular save from Robertson.

Got into good crossing positions but often wasted his opportunities. Solid display.

Toby Alderweireld 6

Kept his discipline and Tottenham’s shape, got better as game wore on.

Jan Vertonghen 7

Bravely played on after injuring his elbow. Passing got better as game went on.

Danny Rose 7

Combative, strong and determined down the left. Did so well again.

Moussa Sissoko 5

Has been so good this season, but conceding early penalty unnerved him. Poor.

Harry Winks 8

The one player who kept possession. Spurs’ best player. Unlucky to be subbed.

Christian Eriksen 6

If this was his last game for Spurs, then he would have wished to do more.

Heung-Min Son 6

His movement was a thorn in Liverpool ’s side. But needed to offer more.

Dele Alli 6

Craves the big stage but only got into the game in the second half.

Harry Kane 5

Did not look fit or sharp enough, barely got on the ball. The gamble backfired.

Substitutes

Lucas Moura for Winks, 66 mins, 6

The hat trick hero of Amsterdam was only a sub, made a difference.

Eric Dier, for Sissoko, 74 mins, 6

Came on for the hugely disappointing Sissoko. Worked hard.

Llorente, for Alli, 82 mins

Liverpool

Alisson 8

What an improvement from Loris Karius 12 months ago. Three terrific late saves.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 8

His stats were excellent. Got forward, defended well, made tackles. Superb again.

Joel Matip 7

Calm and composed in defence, he got the job done and the ball clear of danger.

Virgil van Dijk 7

Good, solid performance. Read danger signs and cleared it with no frills.

Andy Robertson 8

Rampaging performance down the left. Cannot be many better left backs.

He kept his shape in midfield but did not offer enough or impact the game.

Jordan Henderson 6

Liverpool skipper put the hard yards in, but could not influence the game enough.

Georginho Wijnaldum 5

His usual energy was lacking in the heat. Was subbed early after subdued game.
