Tory MP who 'watched porn' in House of Commons is expected to quit

A Tory MP who has been accused of watching porn in the House of Commons is expected to announce his departure, sources claim.

Neil Parish, the MP for Tiverton and Honiton in the South West, was reported by two female colleagues to have been seen watching pornography on his mobile phone while sat near to them. The 65-year-old was suspended from the Conservative whip pending the outcome of an investigation on Friday (April 29).

Mr Parish has referred himself to the Commons’ standards committee over the alleged incident, while the Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS) has also launched an investigation.

Despite earlier claims that he would not step down, Mr Parish is now expected to resign as an MP according to reports from the BBC today (April 30). Earlier today, Mr Parish’s wife said she was 'very embarrassed' by the initial claims but vowed to stick by him.

Wife Sue Parish insisted her husband would not watch porn in front of other people, although she backed the women who had made the allegations. She said: "It was all very embarrassing. My breath was taken away, frankly. People shouldn’t be looking at pornography.

“He would never just sit there with people looking. These ladies were quite right to be as (upset) as they were. I’ve just no idea what happens in these circumstances.”

Mr Parish had represented the Devon constituency since 2019. He was also the chair of the Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee.
