Hugh Grant, who campaigned against the Conservative Party during the general election, was mocked in Parliament today as a Tory MP joked "he's suffered enough".
During her loyal address in the Commons earlier today, former sports minister Tracey Crouch couldn't resist a joke about Grant.
She referenced Boris Johnson's Love Actually election stunt, which saw the Prime Minister replicating the film's doorstep scene in a light-hearted campaign video.
Speaking to loud applause and cheers from the Conservative benches, Ms Crouch said: "I have thought, Mr Speaker, of continuing the Love Actually election theme by delivering this speech on bits of card with a Parliamentary choir singing carols in the background.
"But one, we are not allowed to bring props into the chamber, two, I think Hugh Grant has suffered enough."
An amused Mr Johnson could be seen turning around in his seat to laugh along with his colleagues.
Both he and Labour MP for Tooting Rosena Allin-Khan posted Love Actually-related campaign videos in the build up to the election.
Actor Grant spent the election campaign going door-to-door with a number of Liberal Democrat and Labour candidates. He also hit out at the Prime Minister on a number of occasions, accusing him of omitting the truth.
One user praised Ms Crouch's speech, saying: "Such a beautiful, pointed and humorous address by Tracey Crouch. I have always admired her integrity and today she confirmed this in spades.
"Unfortunately, for the other side of Parliament, Corbyn's reply was sour, spiteful and curmudgeonly, which only confirmed why he must go."
But another user disagreed, writing: "Lord help us.I'm ashamed to be British when I see such simian displays. It's not a game Tracey Crouch, we're not at a match and it's DEFINITELY isn't about you."
