Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg shared a picture of himself enjoying a family weekend with his children - but one detail left Liverpool FC fans absolutely raging.
The MP for North East Somerset has proved controversial over his support of "hard Brexit" and opposition to same-sex marriage and abortion.
Taking a day off from politics, the dad-of-six shared a snap on Instagram of his family enjoying an ice-cream in the weekend sunshine.
He shared the photos with his 68,000 followers, saying: "Ice cream covered children at the Corston County Fair in glorious sunshine."
While Rees-Mogg wore a full three-piece tweed suit in the baking sunshine, it was his children's attire that attracted outrage from Liverpool FC fans.
Two of his sons were dressed in full Liverpool FC kits, with one sporting the new season kit while the other even has the club socks on to match.
His son's choice of team did not go down well with Liverpool FC fans , who were quick to point out the Tories' record on Merseyside - and how far removed Rees-Moggs' politics are from the majority of Reds supporters.
Taking to Twitter, angry fans were quick to share their opinions. Joe Walters said: "Do they know if their father had his way Liverpool the city wouldn’t exist?"
Tim O'Connor said: "Christ, can you lot leave us NOTHING undefiled? Not ONE thing?"
Commenting on Instagram, darafoody said: "Shame that your hero Maggie Thatcher wasn't so supportive of Liverpool."
Stephen Poynor simply said: "Make it stop."
Other fans were quick to point to Liverpool FC's record in Europe, in light of Rees-Mogg's desire to leave the EU under a hard Brexit.
Rob Perry said: "Bizarre - Liverpool FC have the most Remain-ery manager in the league!"
Iain Christie said: "I thought that they hated Europe."
Rees-Mogg has six children - Sixtus Dominic Boniface Christopher, Peter, Mary, Thomas, Anselm and Alfred.
