A Tory MP has apologised after video footage emerged of him exposing his penis to women in a pub.
Leigh MP James Grundy, 41, is shown dropping his trousers to show his genitals in camera phone footage obtained by LBC.
Before undoing his zip, Mr Grundy is heard saying: “I want to make sure, there’s no way you can get my face in this.”
Two women’s voices are then heard telling him to lift his “shirt up” so his groin can be seen by the camera.
After the footage was uncovered, Mr Grundy said: “I apologise for my actions and for any offence caused.”
Mr Grundy is the first Tory MP to be elected in Leigh for 97 years. The seat had been held by Labour since 1922.
It’s understood the footage was filmed in early 2007, when Mr Grundy would have been 28.
In other footage, apparently filmed on the same occasion, he’s seen singing Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” and Adam and the Ants’ “Stand and Deliver.”
Another person is shown smoking a cigarette as he sings to the camera.
The incident took place in the Rams Head Inn in Lowton, a few minutes' walk from the farm owned by his family at the time.
Mr Grundy was elected as a councillor just months later.
All the women involved were understood to be over the age of 18.
According to LBC, the footage was sent to Conservative Party Headquarters shortly after it was taken.
But Mr Grundy was later selected by the party to stand in both the 2017 and 2019 elections.
