Brexit LIVE: Boris Johnson races ahead in Tory leadership contest as Mark Harper, Andrea Leadsom and Esther McVey dumped out at first vote

Tory MPs have cast their votes in the first ballot of their party's leadership race.

Today's ballot opened at 10am and closed at midday, with Esther McVey, Mark Harper and Andrea Leadsom failing to secure enough support to proceed to the next round.

Leadership hopefuls need at least 17 votes in the secret ballot to go through.

Boris Johnson secured the highest number of votes with 114, followed by Jeremy Hunt with 43 and Michael Gove with 37.
