A Conservative councillor has demanded an investigation after she was "removed" from a virtual council meeting.
Hamilton South councillor Lynne Nailon complained after she was unexpectedly removed from a social work committee meeting on Wednesday, January 21.
South Lanarkshire Council have apologised for the "technical error" which resulted in Cllr Nailon's removal and are now "taking steps to ensure there is no repeat”.
Councillors had been discussing a proposed position statement on prostitution when Cllr Nailon was removed.
A number of councillors had suffered technical difficulties during the meeting with Labour councillor Alan Falconer and the SNP's Mary Donnolly (both Hamilton West and Earnock) having to join on their mobile phones.
South Lanarkshire Council use Microsoft Teams to host committee meetings while public health restrictions don't allow for them to be held at SLC HQ in Hamilton.
Cllr Nailon said: "During the agenda item on prostitution, a message flashed up to say that someone had removed me from the meeting.
"Not that I had lost connection but that someone had removed me from the meeting. I would like this to be investigated please."
Chair of the committee, Cllr John Bradley (Cambuslang West) apologised and said: "I don't have any insight into that Cllr Nailon. There is no facility to remove you from the meeting.
"Apologies Cllr Nailon but I don't think there was any deliberate sabotage. Hopefully it was just a technical hiccup."
A spokesperson for South Lanarkshire Council said: “There was a technical error during the social work resources committee meeting this week which unfortunately resulted in Councillor Nailon being temporarily removed from the meeting.
“We apologise to Councillor Nailon for this and we are taking steps to ensure there is no repeat.”
