Torturer behind Rana's 'ghost' messages revealed on Coronation Street

The person behind the cruel messages claiming to be Rana Habeeb from beyond the grave has been unmasked on Coronation Street.

Someone has been targeting Carla Connor, whose mental health is struggling after her factory collapsed killing her half-sister Kate Connor's bride on their wedding day.

Carla was horrified when she received taunts seemingly from Rana, including: “You destroy everything you touch."

Tonight the culprit behind the social media messages was revealed as Alya Nazir.

Rana was first introduced in Weatherfield as a good friend of Alya's and she married her chef brother Zeedan.

Alya, who caught Rana and Kate under the covers when they had an affair behind her brother's back, confessed all to her wife.

"I'm so sorry. No, I'm really sorry. I've done something, something bad," she told Kate.

"Do you have any idea how I felt seeing message from Rana as if she's still alive?" cried Kate.

Alya explained that she wanted to get revenge on factory boss Carla who is being blamed for the catastrophe at Underworld.

"Watching Carla reading that message, having to see Carla's face knowing she's the reason she's not here anymore.

"It's not fair she's still walking around as though nothing's happened," raged Alya.

Kate, who shopped Carla into the police after learning that she knew the roof needed repairing, was upset to have her late partner's memory sullied in such a way.

Coronation Street is top dog: Chesney’s pooch Schmeichel voted the UK’s favourite soap pet

She said: "Carla deserves everything that's coming to her but I won't have Rana's name used again."
