Torrey Smith unleashes a scathing response to Doug Gottlieb’s horrible Andrew Luck tweet

Torrey Smith held nothing back in his defense of Andrew Luck after Fox Sports radio host Doug Gottlieb delivered a dumb take on the Indianapolis Colts quarterback’s retirement on Saturday.

Gottlieb tweeted: “Retiring cause rehabbing is ‘too hard’ is the most millennial thing ever #AndrewLuck.”

Smith responded: “You stole credit cards because working was ‘too hard.'”

Smith is referencing Gottlieb’s charges for credit card theft in 1996 when he was playing college basketball at Notre Dame. Gottlieb was accused of stealing three credit cards to spend $950 on sporting goods, jewelry, gas and dinners at restaurants. He was expelled from Notre Dame.

As Gottlieb explained in an article for The Athletic, his transgressions weren’t as simple as they may seem. And the same is true of Luck, who clearly put careful evaluation into a nuanced decision to walk away from football (and millions of dollars) to retire. Gottlieb’s assessment that “rehabbing is ‘too hard'” for Luck is not only a misquote but also a gross misrepresentation of what the quarterback so carefully laid out during his announcement on Saturday night.

Gottlieb’s inability to recognize the gravity of the Luck’s situation is a disservice to his followers and listeners.
