Lacazette and Pepe start, Nketiah out - Arsenal predicted line up v Everton

Arsenal welcome Everton to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, as the race for a top four spot heats up.

Both sides will go into the game on the back of a victory in their last league outings, with the Gunners beating Newcastle United 4-0 last weekend thanks to second half goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette.

The visitors meanwhile, are putting together an impressive run of form under Carlo Ancelotti, and have the chance to increase their advantage over the Gunners in the Premier League table with a victory in north London.

A successful midweek trip to Greece saw Arsenal come back from the Europa League round of 32 first leg with a 1-0 win thanks to Alexandre Lacazette's second goal in as many games.

Arsenal v Everton: Carlo Ancelotti press conference

While their opponents have had a full week to prepare for the game, Mikel Arteta has several decision to make regarding his line-up, with the Gunners only having two days' rest after their exertions in Greece.

There's no reason to radically change a winning side, particularly one that so thoroughly hammered Newcastle Newcastle last week.

Several of these players, particularly Nicolas Pepe and Mesut Ozil, could benefit from a consistent run of starts in the league and their performance has merited just that.

Indeed I would only make two changes from the side that took to the field a week ago.

Alexandre Lacazette is back among the goals and is still linking play effectively - he still needs to press more diligently and take his chances but he’s a better fit with the players behind him than Eddie Nketiah.

The young striker spent the first half of the season on loan at Championship side Leeds United, but was recalled after failing to get the game time he desired at Elland Road.

He was a surprise selection ahead of Lacazette for the win against Newcastle, but after re-finding his form, the French striker is likely to take his place back in the starting XI.

Assuming Lucas Torreira is fit, not an unreasonable assumption considering Arsenal were considering flying him to Athens on Thursday, he ought to come back to add a bit of ballast to midfield and protect against counter-attacks.

They were Newcastle’s best avenue last week and Everton have players such as Richarlison who can make cavalier opponents pay.

Mesut Ozil missed out on the game against Olympiacos due to the birth of his child, but will be back available to Mikel Arteta for the game against the Toffees.

Predicted Arsenal XI: Leno; Bellerin, Mustafi, Luiz, Saka; Torreira, Xhaka; Pepe, Ozil, Aubameyang; Lacazette
