Livingston County in Illinois was under a tornado warning while areas south of Interstate-80 and Lake and Porter counties in Indiana were under a tornado watch until early Thursday morning.
The tornado warning and watch issued Wednesday for south suburban Illinois and northwest Indiana counties were canceled Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service canceled the watch and warning about 3:15 a.m. Thursday. Pontiac, Fairbury and Forrest in south suburban Livingston County were under the tornado warning, meaning a tornado has been spotted in the area.
Other Illinois counties south of Interstate-80 — Grundy, Will, Kankakee, Ford and Iroquois — and Lake and Porter counties in northwest Indiana were under a tornado watch.
The weather service recommends residents be ready to take shelter quickly and have several reliable ways to receive alerts in inclement weather.
