Strong winds caused cargo containers to crash into a utility pole at JR Nobeoka Station in Nobeoka, Miyazaki Prefecture on Sunday morning, Kyushu Railway Co. said. The incident caused a power outage at the station, leading to the suspension of train services in the prefecture between Ichitana and Hyugashi stations on the Nippo Line. No injuries were reported.

Local authorities in Nobeoka and other areas in the prefecture received reports in the morning of tornado-like gusts of wind, according to the Miyazaki prefectural police and other sources.

There were also reports of broken windows and damaged roofs.
