Torino make transfer decision that could affect Tottenham after major update on new striker

Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of a new striker.

The north London outfit have been busy in summer transfer window thus far, signing no less than four players - including bringing back fan favourite Gareth Bale on a season-long loan spell from Real Madrid.

Joe Hart, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty and Sergio Reguilon are the other new arrivals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and signing number five is on the way.

Mourinho admits Son Heung-Min 'big doubt' for Man United clash

football.london understands that Spurs are finally closing in on agreeing a deal for a new forward and are hopeful of tying up the deal ahead of Monday's transfer deadline day.

Talks are still at a delicate stage but Spurs had narrowed down their striker search in recent weeks to a number of players competing across Europe's leagues.

Furthermore, it's understood that while Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik is not currently the club's main choice, he remains an option after being offered to a number of teams in the Premier League after his move to Roma collapsed.

With that said, the striker in question could be from another Serie A club.

Torino's Andrea Belotti has long been linked with a move to Spurs and there have been major developments that could affect Jose Mourinho's side.

According to ToroNews.net, Torino have contacted super-agent Jorge Mendes over a potential deal for Benfica forward Chiquinho.

The 25-year-old can play both as an attacking midfielder as well as a second striker, and could be a replacement for Belotti if he's the striker set to join Tottenham.

Interestingly, Belotti could be the new signing in question.

Spurs have made enquiries about the Torino captain as well as Metz striker Habib Diallo and Benfica duo Carlos Vinícius and Haris Seferovic.

It's no secret that Mourinho has been growing increasingly frustrated about the lack of movement regarding a new striker to provide competition for Harry Kane, but he's set to get his wish.
