Boris Johnson had the opportunity today to condemn Conservative MPs raking it in from second jobs and to put new rules in place to end this gravy train.
True to form, he did neither.
It is obvious the Prime Minister, who earned hundreds of thousands of pounds from his outside interests before entering No10, has no interest in trying to clean up Parliament.
On his watch, Tory MPs will continue to put greed ahead of what is right and honourable.
Sir Geoffrey Cox is not only making a fortune from legal work. He is also making a tidy sum from renting out his London flat and claiming expenses for another property in the capital.

The former Attorney General may well be acting within the rules but there is a vast difference between what is legally right and what is morally acceptable.
This comes at a time when well-paid MPs who have second jobs with a clear conflict of interest are also under the spotlight.
So it is not surprising that some Tory MPs, such as Andrew Bowie, who has stood down as the party’s vice chairman, reportedly feel they can no longer defend the Government.
COP’s in crisis
Unless there is a last-minute turn around the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow is set to end in failure.
The gathering was billed as the last chance for nations to agree to limit global warming to 1.5C to avoid a climate catastrophe. As things stand the planet is heading for at least 2.4C.
There are still two days left of the summit.
Boris Johnson’s day trip to Glasgow yesterday smacked of PR operation designed to divert headlines away from Westminster sleaze.
If the PM were serious about landing a deal, he would have stayed in Scotland.
