While attempting to walk past him, the man, who is believed to have been in his mid-20s, confronted the pair and began to be abusive towards them.
He then proceeded to threatened them with a bottle and demanded the terrified teens, aged 18 and 19, hand over the bike.
The young man and woman were left badly shaken following the incident and alerted police once the thief had made off with the bike.
Police are now appealing for information to help trace the suspect and the stolen bike.
The suspect is described as a white male, aged between 20 and 25, who is 6ft and of medium build, with dark stubble and dark hair.
He was also topless and wearing a pair of black shorts.
The bike stolen was a Black Carrera Vengeance mountain bike, and is worth more than £300.
