Topless beer-chugging thug jailed after rooftop standoff with police

A half-naked man who was arrested after a bizarre rooftop standoff while swigging a can of beer has been put behind bars.

Marvin Salih, 26, of Hull, has been found guilty of affray after holding the standoff against police on August 15 last year.

However, he was found not guilty of assault by beating by the 12-person jury who sat and listened to evidence during the two day trial which took place at Hull Crown Court last week.

Humberside Police closed a local street during the stand-off last summer causing disruption for locals, reports HullLive.

At least five police cars descended on the street with Salih eventually being talked down and put in the back of a police van.

Salih was seen by passersby wearing nothing on his top half and swigging a can of Fosters beer as he climbed onto the roof.

He has been jailed for 15 months and must spend up to half of his sentence in custody.

Last year, a young dad was arrested for leading police officers on a high speed chase.

Luke Phillips drove at speeds of 70mph through a north Hull housing estate as he attempted to avoid being caught by police.

The 21-year-old drove the wrong way down one way streets and ran through a red light where he narrowly avoided hitting a pedestrian.

Phillips, from Hull, lists his occupation on Facebook as 'full time f***ing legend' - but was jailed for 21 months
