Top wide receiver prospect praises Dolphins cornerback

During the Friday media sessions in Indianapolis, highly coveted wide receiver Kelvin Harmon (North Carolina State) was asked who the best cornerback he played against in college was.

Harmon’s answer might surprise you: Miami Dolphins cornerback Cordrea Tankersley.

Tankersley was a 3rd-round pick for the Dolphins back in 2017 and offered really promising flashes of ability during his rookie season. Starting in 11 games as a rookie, Tankersley logged 7 passes defensed, including one against the Atlanta Falcons to facilitate a Reshad Jones interception in the waning seconds of a 20-17 win in Atlanta.

But Tankersley’s play fell off in 2018 and he ultimately ended his season on the injured reserve after just six games.

The Dolphins are searching for a cornerback to step in next to Xavien Howard and while Tankersley still has much to prove, Dolphins fans have reason to hold out hope that perhaps their third-year cornerback from Clemson isn’t a lost cause.

Look for Tankersley’s 2019 season to help define his career trajectory. With a new coaching staff in place, a fresh start might be just the thing to get his career back on track.
