They're usually brutish and nasty. Sometimes they're quirky, and occasionally they're a work of genius. They are the ad campaigns put out by the candidates. The Huffington Post has compiled a list of the 60 most memorable ones from the current campaign.
They include this one from Hilary Clinton, which features the now famous line, "There's a phone in the White House and it's ringing ... your vote will decide who answers that call."
Obama's simple but effective ad giving us "John McCain in his own words".
And this one, by John Edwards' team, mocking the critics for their focus on his hair cut.
