Top tips for a memorable Mother's Day without flouting lockdown rules

The day is approaching where the nation gets to show its appreciation for all mums and grandmothers.

It is Mother's Day on Sunday and it is still possible to spoil our mothers and grandmothers despite Covid restrictions remaining in place.

Health and Wellness store Eden’s Gate has offered some top tips to celebrate Mother’s Day without flouting any restrictions.

Support Local Business

Many local businesses are selling personalised Mother’s Day gifts from cakes, frames and mugs. Treat her to a special personalised item and support a local business at the same time.

Make a photo album

A thoughtful gift for a loved one is to create a photo album or scrapbook, especially if you haven’t seen them recently due to Covid restrictions. A special idea would be a memory book which you could create using all of your favourite memories.

Create an afternoon tea

Create an afternoon tea for a loved one to enjoy on Sunday afternoon. Lay out an arrangement of goodies such as scones, sandwiches and tea for a celebration filled with delicious food.

Family Zoom Call

If you can’t see your family this year then get all the family together and have a Zoom call to catch up and to celebrate the occasion. Why not reflect on the year and begin planning what to do when you can reunite, there is not long to go now so make the most of planning the summer.

Socially Distanced Walk

Arrange to meet your mum, or grandparent for a local walk. Perhaps walk to a nice location such as a beach or a field, or even an area which holds close memories. Follow Government lockdown guidelines and stay safe at all times, but remember, it’s short term distancing for long term strength.

Movie night

Create the ultimate movie night at home for your mum. Buy some popcorn, choose her favourite film and create an at-home cinema with blankets on the sofa.

Spa Day

Give your mum the ultimate treat and arrange a spa day at home. Create a little hamper with all your mum's favourite items such as face masks, a bath bomb, fluffy socks and chocolates. You could also leave it on the doorstep as a surprise.

Come Dine With Me

If you’re lucky enough to spend the day with your mum then why not cook her a delicious three-course meal to save her from cooking and allow her to relax.

To make the day more special, lay the table, add a vase with flowers and also wash up after.

Games Night

An idea that would work just as well virtually is creating a games night for your family.

Board games are classic entertainment and will provide hours of fun. With a bit of planning, games can work well over a video call too.
