The Big Ten is usually fairly strong in the kicking department, but not this season as there are more than a few new faces. All three of the players chosen for this list are arguable and you could move them around as you see fit. I wouldn’t argue much, but there is some big-time potential on this list.
It is tough to discuss special teams without Iowa, so its kicker was an obvious selection and Ohio State is expecting big things from its transfer from USC. The last selection was a consistent leg from Illinois that deserves more recognition. That’s enough of a preview, let’s dive into the top three kickers in the Big Ten.

Caleb Griffin, Illinois
Why the Pick
Caleb Griffin had an outstanding junior season, nailing 14-of-19 field goal attempts. He has elite leg strength and was a blessing to the Fighting Illini considering he is from Illinois.

Parker Lewis, Ohio State
Why the Pick
Parker Lewis is going to be taking over placekicking duties for the Buckeyes. He nailed 17-of- 22 field goal attempts at USC in 2021 and is expected to be the man in 2023.

Drew Stevens, Iowa
Why the Pick
Drew Stevens is only a sophomore, has already established himself as an elite kicker, and is one-half of the best special teams unit in the Big Ten. Stevens has nailed 16 of his 18 field goal attempts from last season.
