'Top striker!' - Moussa Dembele has got Chelsea and Man United fans talking with Lyon double

The future of Lyon forward Moussa Dembele was one of the hot topics in the January transfer window.

The Frenchman was strongly linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, with both sides looking to add firepower to their respective squads.

But Dembele ended up staying put, with Frank Lampard denying that the Blues were planning a move for the 23-year-old, while United opted to sign Odion Ighalo on a six-month loan deal from Shanghai Shenhua.

That was after Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas poured cold water over any suggestions that Dembele could leave in January, while the player himself said that he would be staying until at least the end of the season.

In January, Dembele said: "I am a Lyon player and I will remain so until the end of the season. I do not think that there will be a departure this winter. Lots of things are being said. It is up to me to ignore that and remain concentrated on the pitch."

However, the speculation over his future has continued ahead of the summer transfer window, and Dembele has got fans talking again this evening after bagging a brace for Lyon against St Etienne in Ligue 1.

Here's what some Chelsea and United fans have been saying about the former Celtic man.

The 23-year-old, who previously played for Fulham and Celtic prior to joining Lyon in August 2018, has been in impressive form for the Ligue 1 side this season.

With his brace against St Etienne, he has now scored 18 goals in 36 appearances for Lyon this season.

That includes eight goals in his last 11 games since the start of the year.
