Top restaurant near Bristol to host 'Remain' dinner on night Britain is due to leave the EU

A top restaurant near Bristol has announced a one-off dinner which will express its love for Europe.

Much of the produce served at The Pony and Trap in Chew Magna is sourced from its own kitchen gardens and the wider South West region.

But on October 31 - the night Britain is due to leave the European Union - the Michelin-starred inn is holding a supper club to celebrate the abundance of ingredients the continent has to offer.

Highly-rated chef Josh Eggleton and his team will cook up a six course menu packed full of his favourites from all over Europe.

Josh said: "I was influenced by European cooking right from the start. I love European culture and I love the produce that we get from the talented producers all over the continent and that’s what this dinner is aiming to celebrate and give credit to.

"So I wanted to cook a menu which features Pyrenean milk-fed lamb, Iberico pork, shellfish from the South of France, European cheeses.

"It’ll be a unique evening here as our menus champion local and regional produce but I felt this was something worth highlighting on this date in particular."

The chef, who recently starred in Channel 4's The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes, said he wants to see other restaurants up and down the country hosting similar events on this date to celebrate 'Europe's incredible larder'.

On the night the dishes will be paired with some of Europe's finest wines.

How to book a space

To reserve a table, contact The Pony & Trap on 01275332627, email info@theponyandtrap.co.uk or simply pop in.

Tickets are £58 and £40 for wine pairing. Bookings require a deposit of £20 per guest.

There will be two sittings on the night at 7pm and 8pm.
