Top restaurant chain The Alchemist to open first ever Scottish venue

The Alchemist is set to open its first-ever Scottish bar and restaurant next month.

The £1.5m venue will be located at Edinburgh’s new St. James Quarter, offering a range of theatrical cocktail serves alongside all-day casual dining.

Customers will enter the 170-cover restaurant via a lobby featuring star sign projections and an immersive elevator experience that will take them to the fourth floor.

Opening at the end of October, 60 new employees will join The Alchemist team, with all of them fully trained in the 'dark art of molecular mixology'.

Each of their creative cocktails are served in bespoke glassware, while their food menus offer unique twists on traditional favourites.

Brand Director Jenny McPhee said they could think of no better place than Edinburgh for their first Scottish location.

She said: “From ancient alchemists to modern mystics, Edinburgh’s association with alchemy spans thousands of years and the city has long been described as a hotbed for spirituality - what better place to open our first Scottish site?

“We know we’re going to feel right at home here and look forward to welcoming Scots seeking an unconventional drinking and dining experience to The Alchemist Edinburgh at St. James Quarter.”
