Top prospect Ronald Acuna will make Braves debut Wednesday

CINCINNATI _ The time has come: Braves super prospect Ronald Acuna will make his MLB debut Wednesday night in Cincinnati, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Acuna, 20, is the near-consensus No. 1 prospect in the sport. Some project him as a generational five-tool talent. He'll take over in left field for Preston Tucker, beginning Wednesday.

The Braves were waiting for Acuna to hit his stride in Triple-A. He's hit .300 (12-for-40) across the past 10 games.

"We're looking for Ronald to get hot at this point," Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said April 19. "I know it's going to be talked about and so on, but once he starts to perform, unless there's an immediate need, an injury or we have a lack of performance up here _ more development isn't going to hurt anybody. We'd prefer to call players up when they're performing at a high level, when they're locked in."
