Combine invite yanked for top pass-rushing prospect Jaylon Ferguson

One of the potential solutions in the 2019 NFL Draft for the Detroit Lions’ pass-rush needs has likely been removed from the team’s consideration.

Jaylon Ferguson’s NFL Scouting Combine invitation was revoked by the league. Ferguson has a conviction for simple battery from his freshman year at Louisiana Tech on his record, as well as a separate public intoxication charge. The battery charge stemmed from a fight at a McDonald’s, according to NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero.

Ferguson is the NCAA’s all-time leader in sacks with 45, a record previously held by Terrell Suggs. Ferguson had 17.5 in his senior season. The 6-foot-4, 256-pound edge rusher was generally projected as a Day 2 selection.

Given how Lions GM Bob Quinn so freshly spoke of how important character and having good people on the roster, it’s hard to see the team having a big interest in Ferguson.
