Oct. 29--Andrew Wiggins, made the top overall pick in this year's NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers only to be dealt to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a package for Kevin Love in a span of two months, has settled into his new surroundings, buying a home in Minneapolis for $1.625 million.
The two-story residence, on nearly half an acre in Cedar-Isles-Dean, features raised ceilings and an indoor basketball half-court -- two selling points that likely appealed to the 6-foot-8 forward. The more than 6,000 square feet of living space also contains an updated kitchen with a breakfast bar, a studio, a yoga room, four bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Outdoors, the landscaped grounds center on a pool and a small pond with a waterfall feature, set off by a large grass lawn. Adjacent is a screened porch with an outdoor fireplace.
The 19-year-old rookie out of Kansas is expected to be a franchise cornerstone for the Timberwolves, who also acquired 2013 No.1 pick Anthony Bennett as part of the trade for Love. He will earn an estimated $11.269 million over the next two seasons and as much as $24.85 million over the life of his rookie contract, according to Forbes.
The property originally listed for sale at $1.895 million last year and was most recently priced at $1.749 million, property records show. Michael Willie of Coldwell Banker Burnet represented the buyer and the seller in the deal, which closed in late September.
