Top models Thalia Heffernan and Sarah Morrissey strut their stuff at Brown Thomas Spring Summer launch

Brown Thomas launched their Spring Summer 2020 season today with a colourful show curated for romantic season.

The department store showcased what is to come from the biggest and best fashion houses in the business, with an edgy underground show at the Douglas Hyde Museum in Dublin’s Trinity College.

And strutting their stuff in a catwalk made of sand, some of Ireland’s top models including Thalia Heffernan and Sarah Morrissey while highlighted ‘effortless’ dressing while wowing in prints and power jackets from brands such as Dolce & Gabbana and Prada.

Curated for the modern women, the launch explored the romantic season, merging some feminine and flirty themes with tropical tones, minimal details and a flashback to the 70s and 80s.

Newness through colour and fabric is seen throughout the collections, with vibrant hues in Valentino and Versace.

A nostalgic mood emerged with a renewed elegant focus on the 70s, with clean cut tailoring.

In contrast, the 80s look set for a return this season, in a fun, free-spirited way with Balenciaga’s exaggerated silhouettes and Richard Quinn’s pairing of latex with macro prints.

Speaking after the show, BT’s fasion director, Shelly Corkery told Irish Daily Mirror: “I think today, really what we were looking at was so much colour, and brightness, lot’s of neons through Roksanda and all those beautiful dresses.

“It is definitely a romantic season, it is definitely feminine, but I thought that clean tailoring really came through strong.

“There are the beautiful Mulger, beautiful powerful jackets and all of the Victoria Beckham and Roksanda tailoring.

“And I thought opening up with Dries [Van Noten] was very exciting with all of that collaboration with Christian Lacroix, it is just a really exciting season ahead.

She added: “Colour is the big thing today, and then there is the 70s, the 80s and the clean sort of tidied up tailoring and then the paradise island and all of that jungle print from Dolce and Gabbana.

“That fun sort of tropical print was really positive so lots of diversity and lots of newness.”
