Top lawyer faces hotel attack rap after being accused of punching lover at Gleneagles

A SENIOR partner at one of the world's biggest law firms has been accused of punching his lover in the face at Gleneagles.

Millionaire lawyer Alan Kitchin was quizzed by police and charged with assaulting his long-term partner.

He was arrested and spent several hours in custody before appearing in the dock at Perth Sheriff Court.

Kitchin, 56, denied attacking and injuring his partner by punching her at the five-star Perthshire hotel on June 4.

He was granted bail after the court was told he would not be staying at the £1million flat the couple have shared for years in Courtfield Gardens, Kensington.

Kitchin, who was recently headhunted to be head of corporate and projects in the Tokyo office of global legal giants Clifford Chance, told the court he would be staying in New Kettering, Northamptonshire.

The case was called again on Thursday and a trial was set for November.

London-based Clifford Chance became the first law firm in the world to turnover £1billion in 2006.

Top partners there are expected to earn £1million this year.

Cambridge graduate Kitchin's high-flying career includes a stint as managing partner of Ashurst's Tokyo operation and he has worked on several multi-million-pound corporate buyouts.
