New media outlet launches to 'challenge Westminster groupthink'

A TOP TV journalist has announced he has signed for a new media outlet which aims to “challenge the groupthink” of Britain’s “establishment media”.

Shehab Khan has jumped ship from ITV News to join Mehdi Hasan’s new Zeteo UK, an offshoot of his project in the US.

The political correspondent, now Zeteo UK’s political editor, said: “I’ll always be grateful to the colleagues and friends at ITV News but I believe this is a moment when the UK needs ambitious, independent journalism more than ever.

“That's why I'm so excited about what we're building at Zeteo UK. This is just the beginning and I can't wait to show you what we've got planned.”

In a video promoting the new outlet, which is hosted on Substack and will also produce video journalism, Hasan said: “We’re bringing Zeteo, the award-winning media company I launched in the US, to the UK as well. We’re launching Zeteo UK because let’s be honest, much of the UK media is failing us.

“So that’s why we need Zeteo UK, to boldly challenge the groupthink and conventional wisdom here in Westminster and to tell you what’s actually happening, not what the right-wing billionaires and their loyal minions in the establishment media want you to think is happening.

“We’re right now assembling a team of prominent journalists, big names, independent thinkers, people here in the UK who actually speak truth to power.”

In a section filmed in front of the BBC’s London headquarters, Hasan added: “No spin, no surface-level analysis, no both sides bullshit.”

Also announced as being part of the new outfit are National columnist Owen Jones as well as Sangita Myska, Grace Blakeley, Afua Hirsch, and Peter Oborne.
