Top chef Neven Maguire has revealed his recipe for success as a DJ.
Neven, 46, had an old set of DJ decks refurbished as a Christmas present from his wife Amelda and reminisced about his days blaring dance music in clubs.
Speaking to Marty Whelan on Lyric FM today, the celeb chef said: “Food and music have always been my two passions.
“They’re my old decks from my 21st birthday that Amelda got refurbished for Christmas.
“It’s all dance music so don’t worry, Marty. I won’t take your job!
“I would have played progressive house and then some trance.
“I used to work in Germany, so I got some records there and in Luxembourg.
“I used to get the bus up to Dublin every second week and get records in Temple Bar.
“I spent all my wages on it to be honest.
“I’d go in and play the last hour in a night club called Mirage in Enniskillen, I never got paid but I got in free so I was delighted.
“I have time now and I’m having a bit of fun with it, it’s a bit of craic sure."
Hailing from Blacklion in Co Cavan, the super chef has released a number of popular cookbooks as well as his own cookery school.
