Top House Democrat Ben Ray Luján will run for Senate

Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) announced he is looking to take Sen. Tom Udall's (D-N.M.) Senate seat in 2020. Udall announced his retirement on March 25.

Why it matters: Luján is the fourth highest ranking member in the House, and was viewed as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's possible successor, reports CBS.
