Top Girls at the National Theatre: First look at Lyndsey Turner's production of Caryl Churchill classic

The first production images have been released for Top Girls, which opens at the National Theatre next week.

Lyndsey Turner directs this production of Caryl Churchill’s play about feminism and class, set in the 1980s.

Katherine Kingsley stars as Marlene, a successful businesswoman and the first female boss of Top Girls employment agency. Under the rule of Margaret Thatcher and the age of individualism, Churchill explores the relationship between ambition and feminism.

It will be the first time that actors haven't doubled their roles from the infamous opening dinner party scene with the rest of the play.

The cast also includes Lucy Black, Jessica Brindle, Lucy Ellinson, Amanda Hadingue, Liv Hill, Ebony Jonelle, Wendy Kweh, Amanda Lawrence, Marcia Lecky, Charlotte Lucas, Ashley McGuire, Siobhán Redmond, Ashna Rabheru, Roisin Rae, Kate Tydman, Nadia Williams and Naomi Yang.

Cassie Kinoshi has composed the score, with set design by Ian MacNeil, costumes by Merle Hensel, lighting by Jack Knowles and sound by Christopher Shutt.

Top Girls runs at the National until July 20, nationaltheatre.org.uk
