Top Gear stars Paddy McGuinness, Andrew Flintoff and Chris Harris thrill fans in Northumberland

Fans of Top Gear were thrilled to see the show's stars in the North East this week.

Presenters Paddy McGuinness, Andrew Flintoff and Chris Harris were spotted filming for the BBC show in a number of locations in Northumberland.

The production crew was seen on Bamburgh beach and the hosts were also clocked in Seahouses and Alnwick.

Several vehicles were seen racing across Bamburgh beach, alongside one with a camera as the crew filmed scenes on the sand.

And the hosts were also happy to take pictures and have a chat with fans when they could.

A number of people posted photos of them on social media, including The Sunningdale Hotel in Bamburgh and Mattches hardware store in Seahouses.

And scores of others were disappointed they didn't see the stars out and about.

"Omg wish we'd been there," said one on Facebook, while another wrote: "Wish we had known about this earlier."

A third added: "Absolutely gutted we weren't there... would have love to see them. Our heroes."

However, viewers are now looking forward to seeing Northumberland on the show.

One fan said: "Looking forward to seeing this one."

Top Gear, which was relaunched in 2002, focuses on the examination and reviewing of motor vehicles, primarily cars.

It also features motoring-based challenges, special races, timed laps of notable cars, and celebrity timed laps.

The programme was previously aired on BBC Two but later moved to BBC One.

The BBC has not yet provided information about when the episode featuring the North East will be aired.
