Paddy McGuinness smashes The One Show set into pieces in live gaffe and blames Brexit

Top Gear host Paddy McGuinness underestimated his own strength during an appearance on The One Show on Wednesday.

The comedian accidentally kicked the iconic plastic table that sits in front of guests, before pulling part of it off and pretending it was a telephone.

Hosts Alex Jones and Matt Baker were in fits of giggles as bemused Paddy managed to destroy the set in seconds.

He kicked the table and asked "what's that?" before reaching down and yanking off a piece of it.

"Is this what we've come to on the BBC?" he joked, showing the piece had actually been broken off before and fixed back on with sellotape.

"I'm blaming Brexit ," he continued.

"The budget's only just come out!... I've literally just caught that with me foot! That is ridiculous."

The show also suffered a technical glitch recently when The Pussycat Doll's performance went off to an awkward start as the song began playing but the Dolls couldn't hear it.

Nicole Scherzinger and her reunited group stood there for 30 seconds as their new song played without them moving a limb.

Ironically, the groups first single for 12 years is called 'React', which is exactly what they didn't do as the music played to viewers at home.

There had been great excitement in the studio when presenter Matt Baker introduced the group, saying: "Now performing their new single, it's the Pussycat Dolls."

As the studio audience at the BBC show cheered and hollered, Nicole et al stood stock still before Jessica Sutta looked around to see what was happening.

The track was quickly pulled and Matt appeared to introduce the single for a second time.

With the sound now filling the studio, the Pussycat Dolls purred into action as if there hadn't been any problem, their earpieces working correctly again.
