At this point in the season any words spent relating Michigan State to the latest Amway Coaches Poll (powered by USA TODAY of course) are wasted words, so I’m just not going to do much more of that!
They’re unranked. They’re not receiving votes. Fin.
However there was some shakeup at the top of the poll despite the top remaining in stasis. Previous No. 5 Oklahoma lost to Kansas State and dropped down to No. 9. That cleared the way for Penn State to rise to No. 5 after thumping Michigan State 28-7.
Alabama, Clemson, LSU and Ohio State fill the rest of the top five, in that order.
In the Big Ten six teams are ranked, led by States Ohio and Penn. They’re followed by Minnesota (13), Michigan (16), Wisconsin (18) and Iowa (19). Indiana is also receiving votes and frankly should be ranked and would be if their helmets had a different logo on them.
