Baloo soft toy, £18.95,
Child: “I really love Baloo! He is my favourite character from the film and this looks really like him! He’s so soft and cuddly, and he gets on really well with my other toys. He does ask me to get him honey but I said no because he’ll just get it all over his fur and get all sticky and then I’ll get sticky too.”
Adult: “Really impressed by this. Usually, soft toys that tie in with films are naff or lurid and you know you are going to end up giving them to charity in two years. This looks and feels more like one of those beautiful Steiff bears – really soft, well made and very realistic looking, though not alarmingly so!”
Sticker scenes and creature colouring, £3.99 each
From Parragon, major book retailers
Child: “I love stickers! Look, you can make pictures with these ones, and add to them, and take them away again. Would you like one? It would look very nice on your top.” [does snake noises]
Adult: “Great for a journey or a rainy day. You can never have too many sticker books. The style is of the cartoon, rather than the new film, but she didn’t seem to notice or mind either way about that.”
T-shirt, £35
Child: “I am never going to take this off. Can we see the film again and can I wear it to bed and can I wear it to see granny tomorrow and on Monday too?”
Adult: “A vast improvement on his previous favourite T-shirt, which was fluorescent yellow and is now more hole than cloth. Rather tastefully done, with nice muted colours. Washes well, too, when I can pry it off him to do so ...”
Jeans, £60
Child: “I didn’t realise at first that these were Jungle Book jeans – you have to look closely, but that’s really cool. I love them, they are super comfy and good for playing.”
Adult: “I think these are sold as boy’s jeans but they fit my daughter perfectly, she likes a looser fit anyway. Good quality denim, though they certainly have a designer price tag.”
‘Happy’ tin, £16.99
Child: “This is brilliant because it’s got so much inside. I’m saving some of the bits for later, but my little sister keeps stealing stickers and it’s really annoying. I need a terrifying tiger to stop her!”
Adult: “Good set full of stickers, colouring sheets, activity book and in a nice robust tin that’s useful for storing things later.”
