Top Edinburgh chef posts video of new 'Buckfastic' sweets made using the tonic wine

A top Edinburgh chef has shared a video of his experiments with Buckfast.

Mark Donald, the head chef at Number One at The Balmoral in the capital posted a clip on his official Instagram account showing him messing around some creative new sweets.

Posting: “coming to your mouth very soon”, he shared a picture of an empty bottle of the infamous tonic wine and small sweet moulds.

He then added a clip of the small bottles-shaped jelly sweeties being coated in sugar.

Experimenting with recipes, Mark described them as being "Buckfastic” - "just like cola bottles" but with Buckfast.

Still in development, the Scots chef hinted the could soon be available at the fine dining restaurant.

Fans of the drink were recently left in the lurch after it was revealed in March that its production would cease due to the coronavirus.

However, distributor J Chandler & Co recently stated that "limited' supplies of the tonic wine have started to hit shelves across the UK after production was recently restarted.
