Top doctor has three 'unusual tips' to fall asleep quicker

Tossing and turning trying to sleep is something we have all been through.

From counting sheep, to imagining you are in a cloud, there are many tricks we try do doze off.

But now a top doctor has revealed three unusual sleep tips that will help you have the best kip of your life.

Dr Karan Raj took to TikTok to tell people how bedtime should be done.

His first tip is to NEVER nap after 4pm. He says this 'greatly reduces your urge to sleep by impacting adenosine levels'.

Secondly, wearing a sleep mask will greatly improve your chances of dozing off.

Dr Raj says: "Darkness tells the brain to produce more melatonin to help you sleep.

"A sleep mask is a cheap way to eliminate as much light as possible."

Finally, we all need to get more natural light during the day.

Dr Raj said this is because light creates serotonin which is then converted to melatonin at night time which helps us sleep.
