Top cornerback prospect Derek Stingley Jr. will fully participate in LSU’s pro day

If LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. could have entered the NFL draft after his electrifying freshman season in 2019, he likely would have been a top-five pick.

Since that 2019 season, Stingley has only appeared in 10 games over the last two seasons and doesn’t have an interception since his freshman season, when he picked off six passes.

Stingley was limited to three games last season as he dealt with a Lisfranc injury that required surgery. While Stingley wasn’t physically able to compete in drills at the NFL combine last month, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports Stingley will participate in all drills at LSU’s pro day Wednesday.

Stingley has been a popular pick for the Washington Commanders in recent mock drafts. Based on talent alone, Stingley should be gone sometime in the first eight picks; however, there are enough questions to push him outside of the top 10. If Washington or another team lands Stingley somewhere amongst the first 15 picks, he could be the steal of the draft if he’s healthy.

Washington will be present at LSU’s pro day.
