Top brews for £2.20 a pint as mini-kegs provide perfect beer at home option

It’s time to ditch the six-pack and bring the pub back home with five-litre kegs of some of the world's best brews in celebration of International Beer Day. The event today (August 5) is a tribute to beers and breweries from across the globe round the world giving ale enthusiasts the chance to sample a range of varieties.

To mark the occasion, The Bottle Club has curated a fabulous line-up of five-litre kegs and low-alcohol options to enjoy – many at special sale prices - taking inspiration from world famous rock bands to monasteries. Perfect for a party, barbecue or small gathering – and even for some summertime relaxation at home – mini kegs are party savers and pub recreators and hold five-litres of beer, for as little as £2.20 a pint.

Apostel Weissbier Hell Keg, pioneered by 17th century monks, is a typically German naturally cloudy wheat beer first brewed in Worms in 1679 - and it’s still going strong today. Fruity and sparkling, it gives a light malt sweetness and regional malts for richness and has a wonderful amber appearance. Brewer Eichbaum is particularly proud of its brewed ale yeast, which gives a very pleasant and unique identity to this Weissbier.

The Eichbaum Hefeweizen Hell Beer Keg is another classic German wheat beer that’s been lovingly brewed using top fermenting yeast for a sparkling fresh bouquet of fruity flavours reminiscent of banana and ripe apple – all topped off with a lush, creamy froth.

The ever-popular Budweiser Budvar Beer from the Czech Republic, is a rich and full-flavoured lager that sets the gold standard for Czech brewing across the world. It’s a pale lager with a sweet, deep golden body and is bold in taste.

For those looking for a tasty and true no and low alcohol alternative this International Beer Day, The Bottle Club has a superb selection to satisfy the tastebuds of more mindful drinkers. The Off-Piste Hazelnut Porter, from London’s Big Drop Brewing Co has luxurious chocolate notes from the smooth, silky textured porter combine perfectly with a moreish hazelnut flavour.

For those who enjoy a citrus drink, Pine Trail Non-Alcoholic Beer – also from Big Drop - is a delight for the senses and delivers on all levels. Rosy floral aromas are immediate and there's a balanced but obvious bitterness to finish.

The Bottle Club’s Chandan Bathia said: “We’ve seen a number of key beer trends emerge in recent years – one of them being the soar in popularity of the five-litre mini keg during the pandemic. It was touted as a saviour of the UK’s beer industry back then, and it’s remained a favourite ever since thanks to the many brilliant and fun benefits it brings.

"Another really big trend is low and no alcoholic brews. So, what better time to celebrate the variety, innovation, quality and deliciousness of beer?"
