Top Boy: Everything we know about Netflix's new show as Dave and Little Simz join cast

Top Boy fans were sent into meltdown after Drake casually dropped the trailer for series three at his London show.

Everyone’s favourite God’s Plan rapper took things to another level after he casually turned the O2 arena into the O3 and showcased the teaser to over 20,000 people before stepping on stage.

Top Boy aired what was assumed to be its final episode in September 2013, just two years after it first hit screens in 2011 but it is now gearing up for the ultimate comeback.

Here is everything you need to know about the new series:

Who will star in series three and what will happen?

Details on the upcoming series are limited, but what we do know is Ashley Walters is set to reprise his role as drug dealer Dushane and Kane ‘Kano’ Robinson will make his return as Sully.

Other stars set to feature in the programme include Funky Friday rapper Dave, Michael Ward, Simbi Ajikawo, who is better known as Little Simz, David Omoregie and Shone Romulus.

The first two series' followed a group of young Hackney residents who were embroiled in a string of gang-related violence and drug dealings. The show also explored the story of how the youngsters attempted to stay out of trouble while trying to survive the surrounding crime.

Return: Walters be reprising his popular role for the show (Netflix)

The latest trailer shows the core characters battling similar demons as they run through the streets of a London estate, while others attempt to keep their heads down.

A female voiceover in the teaser can be heard declaring: “The olders are washed, the youngsters fear nothing.”

How is Drake involved in the show?

All Drake fans will remember the Canadian rapper tweeting about the show back when it was on TV.

According to the Mirror, the In My Feelings rapper was such a fan that he then purchased the rights to the drama after it was dropped by Channel 4.

At the time, Walters told the publication: “We met up to start talking about the show and we are working out a role for him. He loves acting, of course he wanted a part.

“He’s going to be really hands on and is getting stuck into it.”

Where can I watch?

The show previously had a home on Channel 4 but has now moved over to Netflix following Drake’s hand in the show.

You can catch-up on all eight episodes of series one and two on the streaming platform.

When is it on?

Top Boy is expected to air on Netflix later this year although a specific air date has not yet been released.
