Top analysis website predicts if Liverpool will qualify for Champions League next season

Liverpool have been out of the race for the Premier League title, but there is still plenty to play for.

It’s probably fair to say that this season, as a whole at least, has been rather disappointing and not gone the way many would have expected.

Achieving 196 points over the previous two seasons was always going to be something difficult to continue, but the drop off in standards will be a cause for concern.

Even so, Jurgen Klopp and his players still have the possibility of achieving a top four finish to secure Champions League football for next season, even if the odds are stacked against them.

The Reds are currently in seventh place in the league standings, five points adrift of Chelsea who occupy the final top four spot.

Making up that ground over the final nine league fixtures is going to be tough, but how do those whose job it is to predict how likely that is to happen see it going?

Respected statistics and analysis website FiveThirtyEight has forecast how the final Premier League standings will look, and thus predict whether or not the Reds will achieve a top four finish.

Unfortunately, it looks like it’s set to be a disappointing end to the campaign, if the prediction is anything to go by, anyway.

It has predicted that Liverpool will finish the season in fifth place with 64 points, four adrift of Chelsea who are tipped to take the last remaining spot.

Manchester City, as many would expect, are being tipped to win the league with 89 points, 15 ahead of second placed Manchester United.

Leicester City are the final team backed to secure a top four finish, while the likes of Tottenham, Everton, West Ham and Arsenal all miss out.
