Top Alton Towers attraction closed temporarily

Alton Towers' newest and most popular ride has temporarily closed with no date set yet for it to be re-opened.

The theme park responded following recent comments on its social media pages that said The Wicker Man rollercoaster had shut.

It is not known when the ride will reopen but staff are working to open it again "as soon as possible," DerbyshireLive reports.

A spokesperson for Alton Towers said: "Wicker Man is undergoing maintenance and is currently unavailable. We are working to open it as soon as possible. We apologise to our guests for any inconvenience caused.”

The rollercoaster opened in September last year.

The six-storey wooden rollercoaster, which features an impressive human face on one side and ram’s head on the other, was in development for the last four years before it opened to the public.

ON MOnday, a woman wrote a comment on the Alton Towers Facebook page that: "Wicker Man been closed since Thursday we went then went again on Saturday with kids, still closed."
