Survival horror games have increasingly become popular ever since Resident Evil 2 remake launched in 2019. Between stellar remakes such as Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 and 13-year-in-the-making sequels like Alan Wake 2, AAA games are thriving like never before.
2026 is no different in this regard. The first half of the year has had some stellar releases, including Resident Evil Requiem, which is a popular choice for this year’s Game of the Year award. The second half of the year has even more exciting new high-profile horror games and DLCs in store that any genre enthusiast shouldn’t miss out on.
With that said, below is our list of the top 7 new Horror games to play in 2026.

Cronos: Lazarus
- Release Date: Fall 2026
- Platform: PC (Steam, Epic Store), PS5, Xbox Series X/S (Xbox Play Anywhere), Nintendo Switch 2
- Publisher: Bloober Team
Cronos: Lazarus is an upcoming story DLC for Cronos: The New Dawn. It takes place before the events of the first game, in which you play as the Warden. Lazarus not only explores Warden’s story, filling in the missing story beats and lore about his character, but also adds new ways to play.
Gameplay-wise, it’s more aggressive and fast-paced. It’s a stark departure from the base game’s more precision-focused encounters. In Cronos: Lazarus, Warden is not at its full strength but possesses a wide array of abilities that were unavailable to the Traveler. For instance, he can turn invisible.
The Warden is being pursued by a relentless, highly adaptable tracker who’s designed specifically to hunt him. Encounters with this adversary will be large-scale cinematic events that should test your combat skills.
Resident Evil Requiem
- Release Date: February 27, 2026
- Platform: PC (Steam, Epic Store), PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, GeForce Now
- Publisher: Capcom
Resident Evil Requiem is part anxiety-inducing survival horror endeavour and part over-the-top action game. Hardened veteran Leon Kennedy returns in a time-sensitive mission about finding remaining Raccoon City survivors and procuring a cure for the long-term effects of the T-Virus that he’s starting to show.
Joining him is series newcomer Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst, who’s tasked with investigating a series of mysterious deaths that tie back to a grievous event she was once part of at the Wrenwood Hotel.
Resident Evil Requiem is the first entry in the series playable in both first- and third-person perspectives at launch. While it’s recommended to play Grace’s sections in first-person and Leon’s in third-person, players can switch to the other at any time.
Project Songbird
- Release Date: March 26, 2026
- Platform: PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
- Publisher: FYRE Games
Project Songbird is a passion project of solo developer Conner Rush. It’s a first-person survival-horror title that pays homage to iconic survival horror franchises such as Silent Hill, Alan Wake, Firewatch, and Resident Evil.
In Project Songbird, you play as a struggling songwriter and musician, Dakota, who’s grieving the death of their loved one. To finish writing and recording their album, they visit a quaint cabin nestled deep within the Appalachian forest.
However, it’s soon evident that not everything is as it seems. The supernatural occurrences around the cabin might be a painfully vivid way to complete their album.
Reanimal
- Release Date: February 13, 2026
- Platform: PC (Steam, Epic Store), PS5, Xbox Series X/S (Xbox Play Anywhere), GeForce Now
- Publisher: THQ Nordic
Reanimal is a co-op survival horror game from the developers behind Little Nightmares 1&2. You play as a brother and sister who are on a journey to rescue their missing friends from a dark, hellish island.
Like their previous titles, Reanimal is all about working together to solve environmental puzzles and escape or fight gruesome enemies. Unlike Little Nightmares, Reanimal features a dynamic camera angle so both players can always be in the camera’s frame.
Silent Hill: Townfall
- Release Date: September 24, 2026
- Platform: PC (Steam, Epic Store), PS5
- Publisher: Konami
Silent Hill: Townfall is a new spin-off entry in Konami’s psychological horror series. It’s a stark departure in many ways, featuring a first-person perspective and taking place in a fictional coastal town in Scotland.
You play as Simon, who repeatedly wakes up in St. Amelia, an abandoned, fog-enveloped town he seems to have a connection with. His memories are fragmented, and exploring the town is a one-way ticket to learning more about his connection to it and his past.
Unlike Silent Hill f, Townfall takes a more terrifying approach, emphasising stealth over combat. Taking cover, using the CRTV to detect enemies, and sneaking past enemies is a safer approach than going guns blazing.
Since it’s a Silent Hill game, players can expect a ton of environmental puzzles along the journey. It also wouldn’t be Silent Hill without multiple endings, and Silent Hill: Townfall has a total of five endings.
Silver Pines
- Release Date: October 8, 2026
- Platforms: PC
- Publisher Team17
Silver Pines is a very Twin Peaks-inspired 2.5D survival horror metroidvania title. You play as private investigator Red Walker, who visits the abandoned and forgotten town of Silver Pines to look for a missing guitarist, Eddie Velvet.
Developer Wych Elm describes Silver Pines as a “love letter to classic survival horror.” The gloomy, rain-soaked streets of Silver Pines are full of locked doors and mysterious creatures lurking in the shadows.
Since it’s a metroidvania, players can expect to backtrack a lot to solve puzzles, find keys to locked doors, and discover previously unknown secrets.
As for combat, Walker can use ranged weapons to take down various adversaries, including gigantic bosses. However, resources are limited, and inventory management is essential for surviving and progressing the story.
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival
- Release Date: October 8, 2026
- Platform: PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
- Publisher: Saber Interactive
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is arguably the most bizarre game on this list. It’s a first-person survival horror game with a new original story set in Clive Barker’s Hellraiser universe.
You play as Aidan, who must wield the power of the mysterious box – the Genesis Configuration – to help his girlfriend Sunny escape the hellish traps of the infamous Pinhead.
Outside of the box, Aidan has access to a range of weapons such as pistols and shotguns to take down cultists, wretches, deviants, and other masochist enemies in the hellscape.
That concludes our list of the top 7 new horror games players should try in 2026.
