Top 20 baby names most likely to make your child one of the highest earners

Parents-to-be consider various things when choosing a name for their baby, from how it would work when they’re an adult, to whether it fits with their surname.

After all, it’s with them forever. But, have they ever considered how choosing a name could impact their child’s salary in the future? New research from experts at MoneyBoat.co.uk has revealed the top 20 baby names that are destined to receive the highest salary as adults.

MoneyBoat.co.uk collated a list of the most popular baby names in England and Wales over the past 20 years using ONS and then calculated the potential salary for each name using the ValueMyName tool. According to the study, girls named ‘Nancy’ have the potential to earn the most when they grow older, with the name being associated with an average salary of £33,192.

Following closely in second place is ‘Heidi’, as those with this name could earn an average salary of £33,127. The name ‘Penelope’ came in third with an average salary of £31,155, followed by ‘Lily’ and ‘Anna’, with average salaries of £30,821 and £30,522 respectively.

For boys, the highest earning name is ‘Ralph’, with an average salary of £56,144. This is 69% more than what ‘Nancy’, the girl name with the highest potential earning, would get. ‘Michael’ came in second, with an average salary of £52,572.

‘Albert’ comes in third place. Those with this name will potentially earn an average of £45,224. ‘Stanley’ and ‘Bobby’ come in fourth and fifth place with average salaries of £44,327 and £43,319 respectively.
