1. Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotels
Billed as the world’s first 5-star cattery, Longcroft franchise hotels are sumptuously decorated with wrought iron beds fitted with soft pillows, and have a garden/play area for plenty of exercise. There are several hotels across London and the south east, including Longcroft Royston situated just outside the village of Therfield in Royston.

2. Beechcroft Cats Hotel
This cat paradise in Wales is in a stunning mountainside location, set on gently sloping hills in six acres of green fields and trees. There are two different types of chalet, firstly the traditional wooden-style apartment which also has an outside run. There are also newer UPVC chalets and larger family chalets for up to four cats.

3. Ings Luxury Cat Hotel
Let your cat relax in one of the 12 underfloor heated designer suites. Your pet will be welcomed with delicious catnip bubbles and a flatscreen TV which shows virtual fish aquariums and an activity wall for exercise.

4. Hotel Cat
Billed as the country club exclusively for cats, this sanctuary is in the peaceful location of Sway in the New Forest, filled with birdsong. The suites are some of the largest, with the smallest being 154 sq ft of living and play area, and the largest suite a substantial 348 sq ft, so plenty of room to stretch and play.

5. Harpenden Cat Hotel
Established in 1999, this establishment was built within the guidelines published by the British Veterinary Association and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, providing comfort and very high standards for your cat. They use only vet beds in the baskets and the cat aerobic centres in each chalet provide mental and physical stimulation so your pet stays in tip-top shape.

6. The Cat Hotel
This picturesque seaside establishment in Southend-on-Sea has been taking in cat guests for over 20 years. They offer a door-to-door pick up and delivery service for the owners’ convenience and will also send a photo of your cat enjoying its stay.

7. Cat-friendly areas
London, not surprisingly, is the area with the great density of cats per square mile. In south-west London there are 803 cats per square mile. North London has 734 cats per square mile, and south-east London 633. The place with the highest percentage of pedigree cats is west central London.

8. Guildford and Redhill
Residents here are among the UK’s top ten places for feline ownership. There’s one cat registered for every 12 people in the GU postcode – and one per 13 humans in the RH district. That’s according to microchipping organisation Petlog, which identified a total of 62,033 cats in Guildford and 40,277 cats in Redhill. The most popular breed in Guildford is domestic shorthair, standing at 38,750. Burmese felines make up 15.71% of the pedigree cats and the distinctive Siamese breed stands at 11.57%.

9. Accessory update
Lavish some attention on your cat’s signature accessory: its collar. After all, a cheap and worn collar could cause unnecessary discomfort. Boutique London cat outfitters Cheshire & Wain specialise in high quality, leather cat collars which are lined with smooth suede. Fitted with high quality “quick-release” catches, as opposed to elastic, the collars are safe for your cat to wear and even feature a little bell to reveal your feline friend’s latest hiding place.

10. The cat whisperer
Sometimes, the best place for a cat is in its home. If your cat is a real homebody and you need to go away, then book in a cat whisperer who will stay home and look after your pet. Some of these cat lovers have a real love and feeling for felines, so will feed and make a fuss of your cat while you are away. Some will send you regular text updates to tell you how your beloved pet.
