Wirral is set to play host to a variety of brilliant events this weekend, with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee prompting plenty of festivities across the region to honour Elizabeth II's 70 years on the throne.
Aside from Jubilee celebrations, there are an array of activities to keep people entertained over the bank holiday. Often regarded as Liverpool's unassuming neighbour, Wirral is packed full of hidden gems and ideas for great days out, with many places just waiting to be discovered.
From stunning natural beauty to amazing activities, Wirral has got a bit of everything for people of all ages. So, the ECHO took to TripAdvisor to find the best things to keep you occupied this weekend - according to the travel advice site.

10. Wirral Country Park
The Wirral country park walk takes in a distance of around 12 miles in total along the Wirral Way, from the old West Kirby to Hooton line, offering beautiful views over the Dee Estuary.
Wirral Country Park itself includes Thursaston Beach, a long stretch of shingle coastland that will keep you - and any four-legged friends- entertained.
9. Wallasey Beach
A popular bathing destination at the eastern end of the North Wirral Coastal Park, Wallasey Beach is popular with kitesurfers and picnickers alike.
Whilst there might be some showers this weekend, the beach also boasts a beautifully revived promenade which is perfect for a bracing bank holiday stroll.
There is plenty of free parking adjacent to the beach at Bayview Road, with more space available along Kings Parade, off Harrison Drive.
8. Bidston Hill
Up at the top of Bidston hill stands the old windmill and the climb up is perfect for a walk all year round.
And once you get to the top it boosts incredible views of the Wirral, the sea looking out towards Ireland and Liverpool.
7. West Kirby Marine Lake
Located on the very tip of the Wirral Peninsula, with stunning views of the Welsh Hills and the Dee Estuary, this man-made saltwater lake is fast becoming a top tourist destination. It is 52 acres in size, 5 foot deep and totally enclosed, making it an incredibly safe facility.
The Lake is home to the Wirral Watersports Centre, which offers courses in sailing, windsurfing and canoeing, making it the perfect spot to indulge your adventurous side.
6. Vale Park
Vale Park is a Green Flag park that enjoys views across the River Mersey. It has stunning displays of bedding throughout the summer and there is a fairy village within its grounds.
Filled with fairies and unique driftwood sculptures, the park is also part of New Brighton's Mermaid Trail, with one of the sirens of the sea sitting within the park gates.
On Sunday, the Jan Modelski Big Band & Pop Orchestra will take over the park's beautiful white bandstand for a free afternoon of music to mark the Queen's Jubilee.
5. Birkenhead Park
Lazy bank holiday weekends are made for taking a stroll through Birkenhead Park.
On Thursday, the park was part of the Queen's official Jubilee celebrations when Mayor of Wirral, councillor Jeff Green, lit the beacon at the Grand Entrance Archway at Birkenhead Park at 9.45pm.
Over the weekend, the UK’s biggest inflatable theme park will be coming to the park, offering visitors the chance to immerse themselves in a world of excitement, self-discovery and fun. There will also be a Big Jubilee Picnic on Sunday, where people are invited to bring their own picnic, chairs and rugs and join them on the field opposite to the Visitor Centre.
4. Wirral Transport Museum and Heritage Tramway
Wirral Tramway and Transport Museum is situated in Taylor Street in Birkenhead and the tram line runs from Woodside Ferry to the museum.
This is wonderful day out for the whole family, with the Birkenhead 20 tram being specially recommissioned this week and decorated to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.
3. Hilbre Island
Just off the coast of West Kirby is a little archipelago of islands. It is a favourite pastime of many to walk across to the islands during low tide and scale their natural beauty.
People often spend an afternoon there while the tie is in and if you are lucky you might spot a seal!
2. Lady Lever Art Gallery
This beautiful gallery is home to a huge collection of fine art and special exhibits and has recently enjoyed and extensive refurb.
It opened in 1922 to showcase the incredible pieces from William Lever's collection. Lever being the man behind the iconic Sunlight Soap.
The gallery is open from 10am-6pm all Bank Holiday weekend, with plenty for visitors to explore, from the new Kunichika: Japanese Prints exhibition to a brilliant collections of paintings, furniture, ceramics and more.
1. The Black Pearl, New Brighton
Taking the top spot is The Black Pearl in New Brighton. For a free swashbuckling adventure that will look incredible on your Instagram, the attraction is a New Brighton is must.
Kids and big kids with love pretending they are on the high seas on the hunt for buried treasure.
