Continuing with this week’s countdown of the top-10 Georgia football players of 2019, we have No. 9 on our list – defensive back Richard LeCounte.
LeCounte has emerged as one of the leaders on this Georgia defense. A former five-star recruit, the Liberty County product is now entering his junior season in Athens.
He has appeared in 24 games during his two seasons at Georgia, and in 2018 he started 13 of 14 games. Last season, he had 74 total stops, including five tackles for a loss and three pass breakups.
LeCounte is an overall great player who really excels in coverage. He had a nice 2018, however, struggled when he had to make an open-field tackle. Safe to assume Kirby Smart got on to him about that in the offseason.
Look for LeCounte to have another great season and form a nasty duo with fellow safety JR Reed.
